Guilt

A lot of people feel guilty when they lie, or ditch someone. In this case a guy from Ireland says that, “We need guilt, for the worst of reasons of course. Guilt allows us to go on pretending we're better than we really are while continuing to do whatever we want anyway.” I completely agree. People use excuses to get around things and then they end up feeling guilty that they shouldn’t have done what they just did.
I feel that guilt has played a role in everyone’s life, whether it’s from ditching a friend, or lying to your parents. I remember I told someone I would hang out with them and then I made other plans. Once that person texted me to see what we wanted to do I ignored them. Later that night I felt so guilty that I didn’t include them or tell the person I hung out with that I already made plans. Now that I ignored that person I had to make an excuse up to why I didn’t answer them. Once this all happens you put your self into a sticky situation. You’ve gone from ditching the person to lying; now you have two reasons to feel guilty. Guilt can consist or many different things; you can forget to study for a test and feel guilty or you can ditch someone; although many people go each day with feeling guilty or thinking about guilt.
In the book Macbeth, guilt affects the plot a lot. Once everyone starts getting murder people stay to feel as if they shouldn’t have done that and feeling guilty now. When Macbeth killed because Lady Macbeth told him to is where many people would feel guilty. I know if I was told to kill someone and I actually went and killed that person I would feel so guilty that I actually did something like that.

Feminsim

Feminism today is still around. Although it’s not around as much as it used to be there are still examples shown today. Some examples are women role models that can effect women or actually inspire them. Some women that come to my mind are Hilary Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey. Both these women do so much for our country. Hilary Clinton is the first woman ever to be in a close race for president. Many people say she doesn’t have what it takes to be president, and others say that she’s woman and a women cannot control our country. Oprah does so many helpful things for people; she has a lot of organizations that help people who are needed. She helped build a school in Africa and helps aids. These two women show great power for young girls and other woman. An inappropriate role model to young girls today would be, Paris Hilton; she’s out every night partying and drinking. Within the past year she went to jail for drinking and driving, she made a huge deal about doing so, but you do the crime you should pay for it. She is also showing girls that wearing something short and sluty isn’t a problem. Seriously would you want your thirteen-year-old child wearing a skirt that doesn’t cover everything, or wearing a shirt that’s see through and tight?
Lady Macbeth had very strong power; she told Macbeth to do a lot of things that he ended up doing. Although telling people to do things and make them do it isn’t always right, but it showed people that she had power. I feel that she shows somewhat of a positive character to women, a lot of women look up to someone that takes a charge.

"Good People Doing Bad Things"

Ever been the person who’s always doing the write things and one time you get yourself in some trouble. This happens to many people, starting with Don Imus, a popular radio host, said some racial, sexist comment on a public airwave. Imus said a very racial mark against the Rutgers Girls basketball team. This comment didn’t only affect the Rutgers but everyone who heard it was affected. Once this hit airs all over, everyone heard a bout it. Imus lost this his gig on this morning radio show called “Imus is the Morning”. He was then fired from it. Imus Thought his remark was a good reference. Imus became known as someone who was racist, yes he did something terrible but he was a good person to start with. Saying something wrong can bring you down to a very low side. Although Imus said his apologies this just shows that one bad statement or action can go a long way.
Macbeth chose to listen to someone else other then himself, once he killed Duncan he became a bad person for killing. Although Macbeth was a good person he did the wrong thing. If he did what he believed was right and didn’t listen tom something he wouldn’t be a good person doing a terrible thing.

Socratic Seminar Review #1

i completely agree that the way Shakespeare is written, it gives the whole book a complete different perspective. As Shakespeare talks in an older form of English it's makes the story line seem more interesting. If Macbeth, Julius Ceaser, and Romeo and Juliet were written in today's language it would just be the same to any other book or movie.
Another thing that Shakespeare has in all his stories are, IRONY- he uses all types of irony. Shakespeare also has certain characters, like a bad guy, the good guy, sneaky ones, a character that dies from poison or murdered. He uses a lot of the same themes as well, majorly it is Anger and Power, everyone seem like they need all the power and Will do anything for it.
